Centric Gear and SGI team up as Sponsors for the Official OC Throwdown

Posted by Jennifer Duffy at

This past weekend, January 9th, 10th and 11th, Centric Gear and Solutions Group International, put together the first ever Tactical Obstacle Course presented at the OC Throwdown. We worked together with several volunteers to create a challenging yet fun Obstacle Course for anyone attending the Throwdown.

Despite the rain, many brave contestants stepped up to try it out! The course began with 15 kettle bell swings, using the one and only "Boombell" by Madfitter.   Contestants  had to run 200 yards to a 165 lb body drag for a distance of 20 feet,  a 12 foot rope climb and then a hurdle.  Next came the 600 lb door breach and the low crawl followed by a tractor tire flip. The course was completed by the contestant hitting a laser target with a pistol by Laserlyte!  The top Male and Female with the fastest times received a certificate to attend one of SGI's four hour,  world renowned,  firearms training courses!

It was a successful weekend with Centric Gear making its debut with the "Competitor" gear bag!  We had some great visitors to our booth and we were so excited to be able to present the 1st place male and 1st place female with a 100% made in the USA gear bag!  Congrats to Lindsey Valenzuela and Brent Fikowski !!

The weekend would not have been possible without the hardwork of all of the volunteers that came out to help over the weekend!  We thank you!

Special thanks to SGI's Tactical Firearms Instructor,  Art Miranda,  CEO Mike Duffy,  President of SGI,  George Holt,  COO and Tactical Firearms Instructor,  Grant Reynolds (Host of the Discovery Channel and hit show "What Could Possibly Go Wrong")  and SGI's Trauma Medic,  Wil Willis.  Huge thanks to my brother Jeff Lehman and my niece Faith Lehman for the late night hours spent on the Obstacle course and help with the Centric booth through the entire weekend.

Also a huge shout out to Madfitter for the use of their "Boombell" kettlebells, Rhode Blocks for the awesome hurdles, American Barbell for constructing the perfect rig for a rope climb and Antonio's Tractor Tires for a speedy delivery!

It was an amazing weekend, but the best part was watching our friend and Centric Athlete, Aaron Gardner compete as an individual at the always treacherous OC Throwdown event! It is always a pleasure to watch this fearless warrior kill the workouts! Great job Marine! Onward and Upward!

*Photo Credits of Aaron Gardner go to Mike Frazier of Frazier Graphix.  Thanks Mike for all the great photos over the weekend!

What's in your core?
